What is Painkiller Addiction?

Painkiller Addiction (noun): 1) Psychological and physiological substance dependence to pharmalogical pain relievers.

From Merriam-Webster Dictionary

Painkiller Addiction
Painkiller AddictionPainkiller Addiction is a major problem affecting millions of individuals in North America, growing the demand for drug rehab, but there is not much awareness about the magnitude of the problem. Due to the nation having a major problem with other illicit drugs (like cocaine, marijuana, cocaine), prescription drug abuse has not been a major priority for both the health and legal professionals.

The non-medical use or abuse of prescription drugs is escalating and has become a major public health issue. Every single day, there are reports of deaths being reported from accidental overdose of prescription drugs. In most cases, the individual was abusing multiple prescription drugs.

Even though many of these prescription drugs have beneficial uses in clinical medicine, for some unknown reason(s), the abuse of a wide variety of prescription drugs will soon surpass smoking as the number one health problem in America. Hundreds of internet sites sell these drugs without a prescription. These drugs may relieve anxiety and pain, but when abused they can be lethal and just as addictive as other illicit drugs like cocaine.

Who's at risk?

You are... as well as everyone else you know.

If you are visiting this site because you have concerns for a friend or loved one, you are probably going to see what's going on long before they do. People who are addicted do not necessarily see the whole picture.

Another problem is simply that addicts see their behavior as your problem. Even if they are in trouble and need help, they believe the problem is not with them, but with everybody else. Even if you are correct in assessing a drug addiction, understand that the addict will blame you for accusing them. Think of it this way, your relationship with them may be the key to their recovery.

If they pull away from you and others, it could lead to their falling deeper into addiction. We encourage you to seek professional counsel from a drug addiction therapist, or a physician if you think there is a problem. Please don’t wait too long!

Detoxification: Call for Price
DetoxificationWhat is Detoxification Treatment?
The first step of drug detox is drug withdrawal. The definition of withdrawal is "Discontinuation of the use of an addictive substance, and the physiological and mental readjustment that accompanies such discontinuation." Once an individual has discontinued using drugs, physical and behavioral withdrawal symptoms may follow.

The nature and severity of the withdrawal symptoms vary greatly depending on the particular drug or drugs that were being used as well as the frequency of use.

Drug detox is a process that applies to any individual who is addicted to drugs.

The provider Solutions Recovery works with will simply prescribe medications to the individual to help with the physical withdrawal to alcohol and other drugs. As a licensed residential rehab and detox facility we will incorporate counseling and therapy during the detox to help with the psychological distress that the individual may experience as well.

A high percentage of patients go through detox while in our program.

Here at Solutions Recovery do not provide the detox; we instead work with a contracted provider
who provides the detox.  More than three quarters of the individuals who come through our program do not have to be in the hospital.  Rather, they are able to—under the safe care of a clinician—be separated from their drug that they are accustomed to using, with their medication safely locked away and self administered with observation at the prescribed time.

While the patient is in our care, they are closely monitored 24 hours a day, we provide transportation to their periodic follow-ups which the provider will monitor their dosages and adjust the titration schedules.

Solutions Recovery has been certified and licensed by the State of Nevada’s Department of Health and Human Services as a Facility for the treatment of abuse of alcohol and/or drugs.

Our facility has been licensed to provide up to nine residential program beds for the treatment of abuse of alcohol and drugs which includes social model detoxification services.

Testimonials
Hear from some clients that have gone through our program.

"Solutions Recovery saved my life. I am attending AA meetings and working on self. The friends I have in AA are very important to me. Solutions Recovery is a special place! I think about my stay there every day, and the things that I learned there. If I had not been there, and learned some of the tools needed to stay clean and sober, AA meetings would not have the meaning they have today.

I hope to go back to the Solutions to visit, and see some of the real true friends I made there. Keep up the great work you do!!

Thanks!"
Judy, Reno, NV

"At first I was mad about being here.  But I figured out I was really mad at myself for becoming an alcoholic.  In time I realized it was the best place to be.  I feel as though that it has helped me out with my recovery and has made me a better person.  I advise anybody with an alcohol & drug problem to come to Solutions."

Chris, Las Vegas, NV

"My experience at Solutions the past 2 weeks have been overwhelming. I’ve seen anger, hate and love. We’ve bonded as a group and during our bonding, unfortunately, one of our housemates passed away; A rude awakening for some of us. I come away from the overall, convinced, that I will never use again. I will continue my process and move forward.  A lot of good information has been supplied and a lot of stories have been supportive in out effort to remain clean."

Lucy, Henderson, NV
