Codeine Guide

Codeine AddictionWhat is Codeine and it's Effects?
Codeine is used to relieve mild to moderate pain. It is also taken, usually in combination with other medications, to suppress coughing. Codeine will help relieve symptoms but not treat the cause of symptoms or speed recovery.

Codeine belongs to a class of medications called opiate analgesics and to a class of medications called antitussives. When codeine is used to treat pain, it works by changing the way the body senses pain.

Codeine can be taken orally, subcutaneously, intramuscularly and rectally. Codeine cannot be safely injected intravenous as it may result in pulmonary oedema, dangerous release of histamines, facial swelling and various cardiovascular effects. It cannot be snorted. Codeine free base can be smoked on aluminum foil, similar to smoking Heroin.
