What is Trazodone?

Trazodone is used as an antidepressant medication. This Drug is thought to increase the activity of one of the brain chemicals (serotonin) which may become unbalanced and cause depression.  Trazodone is used to treat depression. It may also be used for relief of anxiety disorders such as sleeplessness, tension and chronic pain.  Trazodone may also be used for other purposes not listed here.

Trazodone is in a class of medications called serotonin modulators. It functions by increasing the amount of serotonin, a natural substance in the brain that helps maintain mental balance.
