Solutions Recovery offers clients the opportunity to participate in Canine Therapy, which allows individuals to receive the positive benefits that interacting with dogs can bring about. Animal-assisted therapy programs can be beneficial for people struggling with substance abuse and behavioral health issues. Developing a relationship with a gentle, trained, and non-judgmental therapy dog can create a calming effect and a sense of trust to individuals who are in a chaotic point in their lives. Canine Therapy is run by Linsey Adams, CCTP, CADC-I, CAMS-II, CDVS-I, RADT
Equine Therapy Sessions
Solutions Recovery has partnered with Horses4Heroes to provide the “Back in the Saddle” workshop, an equine therapy for the residential program. Being outdoors, getting exercise, breathing the fresh air, and being around the majestic animals in a healing atmosphere. The goal during this program is to teach individuals life skills through guided horse interaction. These skills include: communication, energy, respect, motivation, connection, trust, self-confidence, and problem solving.
Developing a relationship with a horse inspires individuals to transfer this newfound trust and relationship to other humans. These exercises focus on respect, trust, boundaries, verbal and non-verbal communication, passive conflict resolution, and anger/stress management. Patients can leave the therapy feeling better about themselves and their situation. Equine Therapy Sessions are run by Horses4Heroes.
Music Therapy & Wellness
Music 4 Life® is a program developed and taught by Judith Pinkerton, who has dedicated her career to spreading the benefits of music therapy, wellness, and prevention. She teaches young and old clients how they can convert their music assets into a powerful, portable command center for stress reduction. Her passion for healing music was ignited when her solo violin music replaced medication post-surgery in a hospital. Since then, she founded and managed a nonprofit music therapy clinic and Music 4 Life® for 20 years.
Group-Oriented Support Sessions
A fit body and alert mind can help individuals overcome addiction and maintain long-term sobriety. To achieve the state of optimal physical, mental, and spiritual wellness, we must nurture and care for our bodies by engaging in daily physical exercise. Exercise stimulates endorphins, or neurochemicals that help stabilize our mood. These neurochemicals are generally depleted, which leaves individuals with negative thoughts that drive self-destructive actions, usually resulting in a downward cycle. With the benefits of exercise, individuals experience positive thoughts and healthy behaviors to replace substance abuse, negative consequences, and resulting mood swings.
Life Coaching is an alliance between coach/client that helps the individual achieve personal empowerment and well being through self-discovery, goal-setting, and learning new living skills for recovery. Life Coaching uses a combination of powerful questions, exercises, tools, meditation, and relaxation techniques to create a custom journey for each individual. This service is provided by Certified Life Coach Tedi Anne Templeton and is available to clients in our RTC and IOP programs.
